vacation + giveaway

First, a little about vacation, and then I'll share with you a new giveaway, in which you could win a $50 gift card to spend however you wish at any of CSN Stores more than 200 online stores, which feature beach toys, board games, cookware, dining room sets, baby accessories and anything else you think might make your summer more complete. Seriously, if you win, you won't have trouble spending $50 at one of the online stores.

Cate was 13 months old when we went to Hilton Head two years ago. In case you don't want to do the math, she's 3 now. I am so looking forward to seeing her reaction to the beach this time, when she walks, talks and brainstorms her own ideas.

I'll find out soon enough what she thinks of the beach her momma loves because we leave for Hilton Head Island, S.C., on Saturday morning. We'll be there for a week, with my parents, brother, sister, brother-in-law, soon-to-be-official sister-in-law, brother-in-law, niece and nephew. We're all staying under one roof, and, thankfully, the house we're renting has a pool in the backyard and a short path to the beach.

In addition to lounging by the ocean and pool, we'll eat seafood, play some board games and the Wii, laugh, eat some more, and probably shop. And speaking of shopping, you probably want to know how to win the $50 gift card to CSN Stores. All you have to do is comment below with your favorite vacation memory.

And there are other ways to enter! You can get an additional entry for each of the following you choose to do: Follow me on Twitter. Tweet about this giveaway. Or blog about this giveaway. Just leave an additional comment with the appropriate link to Twitter or your blog.

You have until I return from vacation and celebrate the Fourth of July with the other side of my family to enter, meaning I will randomly draw a winner on July 5. Be sure to leave an e-mail address so the $50 gift card is directed to the appropriate inbox!

  2. My favorite vacation memory is going to Florida a couple of years ago and watching the kids experience their first time on the beach and in the ocean. :)

  3. My favorite was being around age 6-7 and going to the Redwood forest in California. I remember going with my grandparents and all holding hands around this HUGE tree, and we still didn't get all the way around it! WE've been other places, but the trip with my grandparents is the most memorable!

  4. My favorite vacation memory would have to be from our cruise to the bahamas... Swimming with dolphins, fabulous food, seeing Kevin go through a conga line and the breathtaking private island we got to enjoy. Definitely need to go back sometime soon... Well, not too soon. lol.

  5. My favorite vacation memory is going to Boca Grande, Florida for the first time when I was in high school. I literally remember feeling like I was experiencing a piece of heaven as I sat on the secluded beautiful beach and watched the crystal clear ocean waves. Very awesome.

  6. My favorite vacation memories of the past was always visiting my grandparents and family in Kentucky (although from Calloway County originally, my parents lived in Michigan when I was growing up.) I couldn't wait to come to the farm during the summer.

My favorite recent vacation memory was last fall when I went with Mark (my oldest son) and his two kids Emma and Sam for a few days in parts of Tennessee. We took Bella (my youngest granddaughter) along with us too. We went to see the Tennessee Aquarium and then up in the Smoky Mountains. Wonderful time with the kids.... that's what makes the best memories for me.

  7. I may be too late to enter, but here's my favorite memory anyway....

Our annual trek to Cornerstone Festival in IL is one of the highlights of the year. The folks we camp with and hang out with there are like a second family even though we only see most of them once a year. There are several stages set up around the festival grounds, but my favorite is the Gallery stage, set under a large tent with room for a couple hundred people. We often join our friends at a table just outside the back of the tent for conversation and games in the evening. Good live music, good friends, and some good iced coffee as the sun sets ... it doesn't get much better.
